MRTeam recently purchased a VS Holden
Commodore V8 Supercar that was built for the 2001 race season with the VT specs current at
that time. The car has a 'Rob Benson' 18 degree V8 Chev Motor that was
originally built for Wayne Gardener in 2003 for the Bathurst 1000 and has
been recently rebuilt with the latest five dog 6 speed Holinger gearbox.
The car also has a 'Harrop' braking assembly, suspension and alloy
differential, with 'Ohlin' 2-way adjustable shock absorbers and all the
components required in a highly competitive race car. The car has been
well maintained over the years making it the ideal car for a promising
career in the Touring Car Challenge Series.
Independent Race Series Touring Car
Challenge showcases the past 20 years of Australian Touring Car History
featuring ex-V8 Supercars, Super Tourers, Future Tourers and Group A cars
all battling it out on track for the Title. The diversity of the cars in
this class makes for very close and competitive racing - the raw power and
grunt of the ex-V8 Supercars gives them the advantage on the fast
circuits, but the more nimble handling and braking of the smaller cars
gives them the advantage on the tighter circuits. The overall winner at
the end of the series is equally achievable by any, which only serves to
make the Touring Car Challenge all the more exciting.
